US Senator from the State of Maryland, Chris Van Hollen has extended his well wishes to Pakistan and its nation on its 77th Independence Day.
The senator presented his felicitations through a video message distributed among the public by Radio Pakistan. Van Hollen heartily relayed the strong bonds the two countries and their people share.
“I’m very pleased to join all of you in celebrating Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day. Over the past 77 years, the people of the United States and the people of Pakistan have built strong bonds of friendship. I look forward to doing my part to continue to strengthen our relationship,” Van Hollen stated in the video message.
The Maryland senator highlighted the role of the Pakistani-American community in the development of the US and strengthening bilateral relations: “Here in the United States, the Pakistani-American community has made enormous contributions to our country. In every field of endeavour, they serve as important bridgebuilders between our two countries.”
Van Hollen further stated that the Pakistani nation has always dealt with him with generosity and warmth, “Throughout my life, I have experienced the generosity and warmth of the Pakistani people.”
The US senator concluded his heartfelt video message with wishing the country “a happy Independence Day” and reflected on the enduring friendship between the US and Pakistan.
