Kendrick Lamar is set to perform at arguably the biggest musical event, the Super Bowl halftime show. But Drake seemingly wants him not to sing one particular song there: Not Like Us.
These are the speculations by 50 Cent, who believed the true intent behind the God’s Plan hitmaker’s legal action against UMG was to stop the Compton rap star from performing the hit track at the event.
“I’ve never seen that before. I’ve never seen a rap battle end up in a lawsuit. But I thought that was Drake’s team trying to prevent the Super Bowl from doing more damage,” the Candy Shop rapper on Cam’ron’s Talk With Flee.
“Because if you sue Apple and you sue Universal Music Group during the period where Apple is [behind] the music at the Super Bowl, they’re already in the lawsuits so they’re already having to incur costs to defend themselves,” the 49-year-old added.
50 Cent also said that Drake’s legal team may have threatened the NFL by telling them, “We have this issue over this song. It’s already a pending case, we don’t want you guys to allow that to air [or] you’d be a part of the damages.”
