- Govt abolishes total of 4,816 posts from Grade-1 to Grade-2.

ISLAMABAD: The incumbent government as per its rightsizing policy has abolished as many as 6,770 federal posts from various ministries, departments and divisions, The News reported on Thursday.
A total of 4,816 posts, the publication added, from Grade-1 to Grade-22 have been abolished whereas 1,954 posts have been declared dying in accordance with the federal cabinet’s August decision regarding austerity measures.
The federal cabinet, on August 27, decided to abolish 60% of the vacant posts in the ministries and divisions in order to reduce the administrative expenses of the federation by reducing the size of the administrative structure.
As per details entailed in an official document, among the posts abolished are two of Grade-22, 22 of Grade-20, 69 posts of Grade-19, 93 of Grade-18, 270 of Grade-17, 325 of Grade-16, 122 of Grade-15, 382 of Grade-14, 155 of Grade-13, 26 of Grade-12, 254 of Grade-11, 29 of Grade-10, 862 posts of Grade-9, 28 of Grade-8, 360 of Grade-7, 14 of Grade-6, 86 posts of Grade-5, 261 of Grade-4, 80 posts of Grade-3, 419 of Grade-2 and 957 posts of Grade-1.
The posts declared as dying include ten posts of Grade-18, twelve of Grade-17 and 147 of Grade-16, 199 posts of Grade-15, 92 of Grade-14, seven posts of Grade-13, six of Grade-12, 194 posts of Grade-11, five posts of Grade-10, 215 of Grade-9, five of Grade-8, 95 posts of Grade-7, seven of Grade-6, 71 of Grade-5, 235 posts of Grade-4, 13 posts of Grade-3, 63 of Grade-2 and 578 posts of Grade-1.
The number of non-gazetted posts is 4,360, while 456 are gazetted posts.
The Establishment Division has directed the ministries and divisions to implement the decision of the cabinet.
Earlier this month, the Establishment Division had abolished 65 posts out of 102 available vacancies, whereas the Ministry of Health had scrapped 654 posts.
