Tom Llamas set to achieve major milestone: ‘Never to forget’

Tom Llamas is stepping into the spotlight as the new permanent anchor of NBC Nightly News.

While giving an interview to Variety, the 45-year-old seasoned journalist said, “Monday is the real test. It will be trial by fire. It’s never been done like that in this capacity but we have the best at 30 Rock and I know we are going to get there.”

Llamas quipped that “it’s funny, but most of the questions I’ve received” are about “How are you going to do that?”

Reflecting on people’s questions, he stated, “I remind people that ‘Today’ is four hours straight every single day.”

“I want viewers never to forget that we’re out there working for them. I truly believe that even though I work for NBC, I work for the viewer. I really want that to come through, because at the end of the day, viewers have to trust you,” Llamas emphasized.

In addition, the bosses of NBC news think viewers really want him as the new anchor of NBC Nightly News.

For the unversed, before becoming a part of NBC, Llamas was the weekend anchor for ABC’s World News Tonight, which is the most watched evening news show in the country.
