Rihanna just lost her father.
The 37-year-old musician’s dad, Ronald Fenty passed away at the age of 70.
His official cause of death is yet to be announced however, as per Starcom Network, Fenty died in Los Angeles following “a brief illness.”
Sources also informed the outlet that Fenty was surrounded with family at the time of his demise.
Rihanna, who is currently pregnant with her third child, is the daughter of Fenty and mother Monica Braithwaite and is yet to publicly address the tragic news.
Her family also includes brothers Rajad and Rorrey along with three half-siblings from her father’s previous relationships, sisters Samantha and Kandy, and a brother, Jamie.
They grew up in Bridgetown in Barbados, where Rihanna lived until she was 16 but the pair had divorced in 2002, when the Diamonds hitmaker was 14 years old.
Rihanna has had a rocky relationship with her father, which was evident in 2009, back when her then-boyfriend, Chris Brown, assaulted her and Fenty spoke to the press without her consent over the matter.
And even though, a year later, the Work singer told Oprah Winfrey that she had “repaired” her relationship with her dad, in 2019, she sued Fenty claiming that he exploited her name for financial gain.
But as per BBC, three weeks before the lawsuit went to court, Rihanna filed to dismiss it.
