The Princess Royal visited Sark, an island, part of the Channel Islands in the southwestern English Channel, said a statement on Saturday.

“In Sark, The Princess Royal  has visited residents and joined celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the island’s Liberation,” the statement added.

It said, “Her Royal Highness heard about their experiences and the military significance of the island during the war.”

“The Princess Royal also visited Little Sark, becoming the first Member of the Royal Family to do so.”

The royal was joined by her husband Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as they marked the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Bailiwick.

On May 6, King Charles and other senior royals joined veterans and crowds to watch a grand military parade and flypast at the start of four days of commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

VE Day marks the anniversary of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender that took effect on May 8, 1945. It is observed around that date in many countries, including France, the United States and Russia.
