Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex has faced a major legal blow as he just lost his security battle.
On May 2nd, 2025, Harry’s appeal to reinstate taxpayer-funded armed police protection in the UK for himself and his family, like before he stepped back from royal duties in the UK, was rejected.
Despite claims that his life was “at stake” and he and his family including wife Meghan Markle and children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were in danger when visiting the UK, the Court of Appeal ruled against him.
The legal team of the youngest son of King Charles, insisted that he was “singled out” for “unjustified, inferior treatment” but, the court agreed with the decision made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which downgraded the Duke of Sussex’s security following “Megxit.”
It is worth mentioning that while the case has already cost Harry over £500,000, his only option is to try appealing to the Supreme Court.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who tied the knot in 2018, stepped down from their royal roles in 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
