Nicolas Cage recently got candid about the role which made him feel “naked.”
In a new chat with The Guardian, Nicola Cage was asked to reveal the performance that took him “the furthest out of” his “comfort zone”
In response, he referred to his 2022’s movie and said, I think the hardest performance was The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.”
He went on to explain, “Because I was playing a character called Nick Cage and I couldn’t hide behind it.”
For those unversed, in the movie Nicolas played a fictionalized version of himself named Nick Cage.
The movie revolved around his anxieties about his career, his relationships with his ex-wife Olivia, played by Sharon Horgan, and his daughter Addy, played by Lily Mo Sheen, and his public persona.
Elaborating on his discomfort while playing the role, Nicolas admitted, “It was enormously uncomfortable.”
“I felt very naked, and in some ways embarrassed, that I was even playing a part that referred to himself as Nicolas or Nick Cage,” he concluded.
Elsewhere in the interview, he discussed inspiring various events and musical groups.
Praising such an entity, he added, “I am familiar with a hard rock band out of Australia called Nicolas Cage Fighter, and I think they’re terrific.”
“Their songs are empowering. The lyrics are all about taking ownership of your mistakes, never being a victim, figuring out how you can fix your problems,” he explained in conclusion.
