John Legend recently discussed his former mentor Kanye West.
Recently, John had a confessional with The Times, in which he recalled what Kanye West was like before their falling out.
He began by saying, “Back then, Kanye was very passionate, very gifted, and he had big dreams not only for himself but also for all the people around him.”
“He had so much optimism, so much creativity. It does feel sad, sometimes shocking, to see where he is now,” the singer added.
In addition to this, John Legend addressed that his ex-friend’s antisemitic remarks and anti-Black comments could be a result of his worsening mental state.
“I didn’t see a hint of what we’re seeing now, his obsessions with antisemitism, anti-blackness, and it is sad to see his devolution,” he also expressed.
Conclusively, John Legend admitted that he witnessed “definitely a difference” in the rapper’s mental state after the death of his mother Donda West in 2007.
‘I don’t think we’re qualified to psychoanalyze him, but after his mother passed in 2007 there was definitely a difference,” he claimed and remarked in conclusion, “His descent started then and seems to have accelerated recently.”
