Maya Hawke, the breakout star of Stranger Things, is slated to appear in Sunrise On The Reaping, the forthcoming prequel to The Hunger Games.

According to Variety, Ethan Hawke’s daughter will play Wiress, an ex-Hunger Games champion turned District 12 mentor.

Along with her, the film has cast Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee.

The film’s logline read, “Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping will revisit the dystopia of Panem nearly a quarter of a century before the events of the original. Hunger Games and will focus on a young Haymitch Abernathy.”

In other news, Sam Claflin, who played Finnich Odair, raved about the upcoming Sunrise on the Reaping.

He shared that he’s “a huge lover and fan of the world Suzanne Collins created” and “can’t help but feel attached to it.”

“I thought it was a fresh take with a fresh generation. They did a wonderful job. I understand the ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ book is even better,” the actor told Variety.

In the meantime, Francis Lawrence is returning to direct the film, having previously directed several installments in the Hunger Games franchise.
