Halle Berry had to change her Cannes Film Festival’s opening night gala dress last minute.
As per the new notification of the annual film festival, it introduced some new rules for the dress code, like banning nudity on the red carpet.
The official FAQ website of the Cannes Film Festival reads, “Nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,” due to “decency reasons.”
Another notable dress code rule was not allowing “voluminous outfits,” as large trains of dress “hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.”
Berry told Variety ahead of the opening night gala, that she was originally planning to wear a gown that was not according to the new dress code rules, so had to make last-minute changes.
“I had an amazing dress by [Gaurav] Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it’s too big of a train,” Berry noted. “I’m not going to break the rules. The nudity part is also probably a good rule.”
The update for the change in dress code was made under French law.
