Eiza González recently got candid about how she felt around Natalie Portman on the set of their forthcoming movie Fountain of Youth.
Catching up with PEOPLE magazine, the 35-year-old Mexican actress and singer credited Portman for persuading her to be in the world of acting.
González said of the 43-year-old actress, “I’ve been a ginormous fan for my entire [life]… I literally wanted to be an actress thanks to her.”
The 3 Body Problem star was asked if she told Portman about her admiration when they were on the set of Fountain of Youth, the action-adventure movie.
Answering the question, she quipped, “I think she could tell because I was really nervous talking to her.”
The Ash actress went on to explain, “I admire her. But not only as an actress, as an activist, a woman that speaks up for her rights, a woman that is a mother, a woman that has lived for many, many centuries in this industry, eons of experience, literally straight from Star Wars.”
González, who stars with John Krasinski, Stanley Tucci, and Domhnall Gleeson, other than the Star Wars actress in Fountain of Youth, shed light on their bonding: “It felt like we’ve known each other forever. It was very instant. We had a really beautiful connection.”
“When you have a director that really focuses on creating an environment, a safe space — it just really creates a family experience ultimately, especially when you’re filming for this long. This movie we shot for many, many months and traveled the world together, so you become quite close,” she said, speaking highly of the movie director Guy Ritchie.
It is noteworthy to mention that Fountain of Youth will be released on May 23, 2025, on Apple TV+.
