James Van Der Beek is excited to announce his newest role following his cancer diagnosis.

The 48-year-old actor took to his official Instagram account on Thursday, May 15, to reveal that he is taking a recurring guest role in Elle, the upcoming prequel of Legally Blonde.

“So, this is exciting… I’m going back to work for a bit,” he excitedly announced.

“Super excited to join this awesome cast in such a fun project. Almost as excited as my wife and girls are that I’m doing this #LegallyBlond #Elle,” he added.

The role marks the Dawson’s Creek alum’s first since his colorectal cancer diagnosis

Van Der Beek’s wife Kimberly, proved to be a supportive partner, taking to her Instagram handle to celebrate the actor’s return to acting.

“Annabel and I NEEDED this!” Kimberly wrote in the comment section.

It is pertinent to mention that Van Der Beek shares six children with his wife Kimberly.
