An anti-monarchy group has raised questions on Prince Andrew’s rank of Vice Admiral, which he was promoted to in 2015.

The name of the Duke of York was mentioned by Republic as it highlighted BBC report that said the Royal Navy Adm Sir Ben Key has been removed from his duties over allegations of misconduct.

Sharing the article on X, the group wrote, “Andrew remains vice admiral despite allegations of a number of serious sex offences.”

According to the BBC, the Ministry of Defence’s statement regarding the removal of Adm Key follows reports in the Sun that the officer was suspected of having an affair with a more junior female colleague.

Republic’s claim was contradicted by some users who cited a report that Queen Elizabeth had removed his military titles in 2022,

But some people believe he might not be using his honorary military titles but he still holds the rank of Vice Admiral.

The late queen removed Andrew’s honorary military titles and royal charitable patronages due to controversy surrounding his association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
