Doechii has addressed her Met Gala outburst in a recent statement.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the Grammy-winning rapper responded to critics by poking fun at the tense behaviour where she was caught yelling at her team on camera.
“God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas,” the singer wrote inside a video in which she could be seen lifting up her hands in surrender.
The video, which was also shared on TikTok, was set to the sound of The Commodores’ track Easy.
In a follow-up post on her Instagram Stories, Doechii wrote, “and all jokes aside I’m so so so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night !”
“We’ve been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is in such alignment with who I am what I stand for. it’s nothing but God that this year was our debut,” her statement continued. “Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. and a time was had.”

Doechii said while chatting with Vogue on the carpet that she was heavily inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, which was also used as reference for Andrew Bolton when curating the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit.
The response comes two days after a clip of the tense moment began circulating on TikTok, showing the rapper inside a box made of a clothing rack while making her way out of The Mark Hotel before the May 5 event.
In the video, Doechii can be heard yelling at her team to use more umbrellas for extra coverage.
“I’m ready. No, stop. Give me another umbrella now — and another. I need more f****** umbrellas,” the musician can be heard saying.
Even after the umbrellas and clothing rack were set up around her, Doechii could be heard shouting insults as she reminded her team to hold the umbrellas in place.
