97% of Pakistanis hail army’s performance during recent clashes with India: survey

Majority of Pakistanis are satisfied with the political and military leadership for giving a befitting response to the Indian aggression as 97% of the respondent rated the army’s performance as “good or very good“, according to a latest survey.  

The survey titled “Public Opinion after India Pakistan ceasefire: Comprehensive Analysis” conducted by Gallup Pakistan between May 13 and 18.

According to the survey, 96% of the countrymen declared the Pakistan army triumphant during the recent war between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in South Asia.

Public opinion about the armed forces also improved significantly after the conflict, with 93% of Pakistanis saying their opinion of the armed forces had changed positively.  

73% of the respondents said that they are happy with the government’s performance and lauded its success on the diplomatic front, while 12% took a neutral stance, 7% appeared angry, and 8% refrained from giving any opinion, according to the survey report.

The Gallup survey further stated that Pakistanis also praised political parties for taking a clear stand against India. 65% of the respondent termed the role of ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) exemplary, 58% hailed the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) while 60% called the role of the PTI “good”.

87% of the respondents believed that the recent war was imposed on Pakistan by India.

Responding to a question about ceasefire, 91% of Pakistanis considered the government’s decision to accept the ceasefire as the right one, while 6% opposed it.

When asked whether India would fully abide by the ceasefire agreement, 52% of Pakistanis appeared confident, saying India would have to continue the ceasefire, while 34% expressed doubt, saying India would break the ceasefire agreement, and 14% said they did not know anything about it.
