Ryan Reynolds did not attend the 2025 Critics Choice Awards.

This comes despite the fact that his blockbuster movie, Deadpool & Wolverine had been nominated in the category of Best Comedy, an accolade that the film ended up winning, tying with A Real Pain.

Reynolds even broke his silence on the achievement, taking to his official Instagram to write, “Zing! Thanks @criticschoice — whole team @deadpoolmovie is thrilled. But wait a minute. Swipe [to the next slide] Huge congrats to @arealpainfilm.”

Initially, the Fall Guy star also reposted Deadpool account’s story that read, “Hughlarious, Congratulations to the cast and crew of #DeadpoolAndWolverine on their Critics Choice Awards win for Best Comedy! #CriticsChoice.”

Reynolds’ move to not show up at the Critics Choice Awards comes amid him and his wife, Blake Lively, being caught up in a legal battle against, It Ends With Us star, Justin Baldoni.

Lively sued her co-star Baldoni, for s**ual harassment on the set of the novel adaptation film, to which, in response, the Jane The Virgin star countersued the A-list couple for defamation.

In fact, Deadpool & Wolverine also managed to get Baldoni’s attention, where he claimed in his counter lawsuit that the character, Nicepool, written and played by Reynolds himself, is a cruel parody of him.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have notably kept themselves away from the spotlight amid this highly-publicized legal battle.

وزارت خزانہ کی جانب سے موجودہ مالی سال کے پہلے 6 ماہ کے اخراجات و آمدن کی تفصیلات جاری کردی گئی ہیں، جس کے مطابق پاکستان پہلے 6 ماہ میں بین الاقوامی مالیاتی فنڈ (آئی ایم ایف) کی بڑی شرائط پوری کرنے میں کامیاب ہوگیا۔

رپورٹ میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ 2900 ارب ہدف کے مقابلے پرائمری سرپلس 3600 ارب روپے تک پہنچ گیا ہے۔ اسی طرح چاروں صوبوں نے 750 ارب ہدف کے مقابلے 776 ارب سرپلس بجٹ دیا۔

صوبوں نے 376 ارب ریونیو ہدف کے مقابلے 442 ارب ٹیکس جمع کیا۔ اسی طرح زرعی آمدن پر ٹیکس پر عمل درآمد سے ریونیو میں مزید اضافہ متوقع ہے۔

وزارت خزانہ کے مطابق 6ماہ میں ایف بی آر کو ٹیکس ریونیو میں 384 ارب شارٹ فال کا سامنا ہوا۔ 6009 ارب ہدف کے مقابلے 5624 ارب روپے ٹیکس جمع کیا گیا۔ اس دورانیے میں تاجر دوست اسکیم کے تحت  23.4 ارب ٹیکس جمع کرنے کا ہدف پورا نہیں ہو سکا۔

رپورٹ میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ وفاقی حکومت کی خالص آمدن 5887 ارب روپے رہی۔ وفاقی حکومت کے اخراجات 8200 ارب سے تجاوز کرگئے جب کہ پہلے 6 ماہ میں 2313 ارب روپے بجٹ خسارہ ہوا۔

اسی دورانیے میں قرضوں پر سود کی مد میں 5141 ارب روپے خرچ کیے گئے جب کہ وفاقی ترقیاتی منصوبوں پر صرف 164 ارب روپے خرچ کیے گئے۔

Adrien Brody added another feather to his cap on Friday as he won the Best Actor trophy at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards.

In his acceptance speech, the 51-year-old actor, who received an award for his stunning performance in The Brutalis, dedicated his trophy to his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman.

“I’ve been doing this since I was 12 and I know very clearly that these moments are far and few between in an actor’s life. I do not take this for granted,” began Adrien.

He continued, “I want to shout out my crew and amazing cast for all their amazing contributions to this, I couldn’t be here without you, and to my team for supporting me and guiding me and A24 for believing in this movie and of course to my beautiful girlfriend Georgina and my parents, thank you.”

“I would not be here without you. God bless everyone, I love you. Thank you,” added the Ghosted actor.

Praising film’s critics, Adrien said, “You guys, critics, they make you stronger. Thank you, I really appreciate you. You guys have been advocating for our film since Venice and you’ve given us a voice, you’ve made this very small epic film very visible and very accessible to people and I’m so grateful for that,” added Adrien.

As per People magazine, Adrien has been dating Georgina since 2020. The couple was recently spotted together at the Golden Globe Awards on January 5, 2025.

BEIJING, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 08th Feb, 2025) China’s cross-border trade saw further facilitation in 2024 as the country ramped up efforts to develop smart ports and enhance international trade services, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.

A statement released Friday by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) highlighted that over the past year, efforts were made to establish smart port construction pilot zones at 57 ports across 22 regions in China.

The statement added that the country introduced 55 new services to its “single window” for international trade.

KARACHI: An American woman, Onijah Andrew Robinson, who traveled to Pakistan in pursuit of love, finally flew back to the United States on Friday after spending several months in Karachi.

The 33-year-old arrived in Karachi on October 11, 2024, after falling in love with a 19-year-old, Nidal Ahmed Memon. However, under family pressure, Memon refused to marry her, leaving Robinson stranded in the port city.

Despite her visa expiring on November 10, she refused to return to the US and remained in Karachi. In mid-January, she attempted to enter Karachi airport, but Airport Security Force (ASF) officials handed her over to the police.

According to the police, authorities issued an exit permit to Robinson, valid for 15 days, on January 27 after the intervention of the Sindh governor. Meanwhile, a welfare organisation arranged an air ticket for her.

However, after receiving clearance from airport staff, she abruptly changed her mind and refused to board the flight, accusing airline staff of forcing her to leave the country.

She then went to the residence of an alleged friend in Karachi’s Garden area and camped outside his house for several days until a welfare organisation provided her with shelter. She also spent some time in Jinnah Hospital’s psychiatric ward after her health deteriorated.

On Friday evening, a five-member medical board declared her fit for travel and discharged her from the hospital. Under police security, she was taken directly to the airport.

She finally agreed to return to the US after being persuaded by staff from the US Consulate in Karachi, who visited the hospital to check on her condition and arranged her ticket.

Madrid, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Feb, 2025) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and France’s Marine Le Pen headline a rally in Madrid on Saturday by Europe’s biggest far-right bloc, buoyed by electoral gains and Donald Trump’s return to power.

Patriots for Europe has realigned the EU far right and became the European Parliament’s third-largest force after Orban helped launch it last year to shift Brussels rightwards.

Among the leading nationalist figures taking to the stage are Orban, Le Pen, Dutch anti-Islam firebrand Geert Wilders, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and former Czech premier Andrej Babis.

They will outline their strategy to defend “national sovereignty, the defence of liberty and European identity” and reject “mass immigration that destabilises nations”, said Spanish party Vox, which is hosting the rally.

Their vision is a “real alternative” to the coalition in Brussels between the European People’s Party of European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen and the Socialists and Democrats, Vox added.

Around 2,000 people are due to attend the event after a dinner on Friday for the participants and Kevin Roberts, head of influential conservative US think tank The Heritage Foundation.

After last year’s EU elections in which far-right parties performed strongly in several countries, Saturday’s gathering “is a show of force”, said Steven Forti, a researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Those elections saw the group overtake the European Conservatives and Reformists, associated with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, while it also overshadows a smaller far-right bloc that includes Germany’s ascendant AfD.

Patriots for Europe is therefore seeking to “show its central place in the competition” with rival far-right groups, Forti told AFP.

– ‘Make Europe Great Again’ –

“They want to take advantage of the wave from Trump’s victory and the shock in the European Union” as the US president roils allies with his measures, Forti added.

The summit in the Spanish capital has adopted the slogan “Make Europe Great Again”, a nod to Trump’s rallying cry “Make America Great Again”.

Orban is seen as one of Trump’s closest EU allies, while Vox leader Santiago Abascal has highlighted the ideological affinity between the group and Trump, especially on immigration.

In wanting a European Union that “takes care of defence, the economy up to a certain point, and especially borders… it would be a confederation of sovereign states” that aligns the group with Trump, said Forti.

But Trump’s threats, from slapping prohibitive tariffs on European goods to annexing Denmark’s gigantic Arctic territory of Greenland, may generate tensions within the far right.

“Liking Donald Trump’s patriotism does not mean being the vassal of the United States,” Jordan Bardella, leader of France’s National Rally whose figurehead is Le Pen, said last month.
